Hi! I Think Introductions Are In Order!
Hi, Folks! It's Nice to Meet You!
I thought I’d take the opportunity to introduce myself, just in case anyone is wondering who is doing all the writing here.
My name is Paula Sharp, as you may have noticed in the footers at the bottom of each page.
I’m a woman “of a certain age” (which means over 50, but I reserve the right not to say how much!)
This is a picture of me getting my morning hug from Bella, my princess cat.
I’m married to David, a.k.a. “Santy Claus,” my best friend for over half my life. He carves totally fabulous figures and ornaments from wood, and amuses, aggravates, and entertains me by turns.
We have children and grandchildren who also amuse, aggravate, and entertain us, and whom we love dearly.
And we share our home with a menagerie of critters including of one dog, three birds, and four cats…who also amuse, aggravate, and entertain us daily!!!
I am a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in Boise, Idaho, home of the Boise State Broncos football team and the nationally known “smurf turf”!
I’ve lived in Boise for … good heavens! can it really be 28 years now?!? Sheesh! Not bad for a Navy brat who attended 12 schools by 7th grade, huh? Guess I’ve finally put down roots.
Boise is a lovely city in a beautiful state; and
A Better Day Counseling Services
is located in Boise’s historic north end neighborhood, just a few short blocks from Idaho’s Capitol Building and the downtown area.
Helping people has been my life-time dream and goal, and I count myself blessed to have the opportunity to work with so many amazing people. It is my belief that given the information, tools/skills, and support needed, people can and do heal from deep wounds and traumatic experiences. My job is to help them understand their difficulties and challenges, and to support them as they learn and practice new ways of dealing with them.
It has been my experience that people are usually stronger than they realize. I try to help them reconnect to that strength and reclaim their joy in life. Working together, we can work wonders!
I’m pleased to be able to create this website with the help of the fine folks at Site Build It! (To open a new window and learn more about Site Build It!, click on this link:
Site Build It!)
It has been quite a challenge to learn how to build web pages - I’m so not a computer geek! But, little by little, with all the information, software, and assistance Site Build It! provides, I’m learning the language and the process.
And now you are actually reading the result! It’s a mirawockle, as Pogo Possum was so fond of saying. (See, I told you I was old. For those of you who’ve never heard of Pogo, it was a comic strip written by Walt Kelly back in the olden days “peopled” by assorted animals who lived in the Okefenokee Swamp.)
I also want to thank the terrific people at
(opens new window for your viewing pleasure!) for kindly giving me permission to include some of their photos on this site. I confess, whenever I have 10-15 minutes and feel in need of a quick perker-upper, I’ll go look at the new LolCats posted on ICanHasCheezburger. It’s guaranteed to get me laughing in short order, and really energizes the rest of my day. A non-caloric natural high! Awesome!
My plan is to keep adding information, ideas, and whatever else seems like it might be helpful to you in learning how to manage stress and balance life better. I’d love to read any ideas, suggestions, feedback or questions you’d care to send my way. Just use the
to let me hear from you.
Lastly, a small disclaimer:
